I just emerged openbox. It has anti-aliasing and looks to be simple and configurable.
What would be a good graphical file manager (without emerging KDE or Gnome)? _________________ Is the sky really falling??? |

I've heard good things about waimea too. The reason I'm going to try it is because I too, have alot of Spare CPU Cycles, I like fluxbox but Its just not pretty enough for me.
BTW Craigo: Vice City Kicks ass. I haven't played it but I watched my friend play for about 1/2 hour. looks amazing, you can do so much more than you could in GTA3 |

to be honest, you probably should make a new post for this question. it doesnt really fit the topic. but i like to answer questions so here...
yes it is its own wm, but it is has an incredibally light file manager that you can run from any wm. its great. its fast, has all the right options, and its my favorite. just type "rox" into xterm or be like me and put Code: | Control Mod1 r :ExecCommand rox[ | in your keys file! |

I've forgotten about OpenBox but I do know there is WhiteBox as well.
cujo: rox is really sweet to use along with 'mc' (midnight commander in console). However, I like to still do the old bash way
metalhedd: Seriously, try and influence your mate to let you play on it.. there's tons of stuff to do in Vice City... I just cannot believe I can finally get into a flexible game to do whatever I want. (Unfortuntly, my gf is telling me to get off it when she's visiting |

Craigo: He's not being adick, I just wasn't there long enough to get a chance, I'm sure once he's done with it he'll lend me the PS2 and the game, he tends to do that. |

The best thing about Fluxbox, in my opinion, are the tabs and the stability. The best thing about waimea is the transparency, pixmap texture support, and the fact that you got a wrap-around-any-way-you-want-virtual-desktop-type-of-deal-thingie.
I am currently using waimea 0.4.0. I think waimea looks better and is faster, but I still got love for Fluxbox. I switch every once in a while. Each project has their own different ideas and goals. But I'd love to see waimea with tabs in a future version. Whenever I have time I'm gonna take a look at the source code for the two of them and see if I can get my waimea to have tabs |
