I've recently rebuilt my kernel wih the same config, but added some more options. I couldnt compile the options as modules so i usd the command "make dep && make bzImage modules modules_install" and then used "cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/kernel-2.4.25-gentoo
cp System.map /boot/System.map-2.4.25-gentoo"
but i did not backup the old ones lol, and now when i try to boot i get a message "Ran Out Of Input Data..." while its decompressing the image.

Is there anyway to fix this? Did i miss a step or something?

Boot from the LiveCD, chroot into your installation, and recompile the kernel.

This means you forgot to rerun /sbin/lilo after updating the kernel.

This can also be fixed by chrooting into your system from the LiveCD.
