Ok, I have no idea what causes this problem, and it is driving me mad. Often when I try connecting to URLs I have not been to before, have been to in a long time, or ones which have changed IPs sinces last. I get redirected to a site selling domains. My current setup has one computer acting as a router for a network. Trying to connect to a site from the router only redirects me if the URL is not registered. This redirection and failure to resolve domains happens in both Linux and Windows with many different browsers

What DNS are you using (network setting / /etc/resolv.conf) ?

What does your "/etc/resolv.conf" file look like? It could be a problem with your ISP DNS server. I fixed the problem by putting 6 DNS servers in my resolv.conf file.
