I was using gnome here, and the sound was working fine
my multimedia settings was for alsa and all worked fine.

Now it stoped working (i dont know why)...
When i click in the "sound tray icon" for the audio control it shows a message:
Sorry, but no audio mixer found (something like that cuz its in other language).
and in the multimedia settings there are only "custom" now, the alsa has disapeard...

what could i do to fix this?

i tryed /etc/init.d/alsasound start
and this came:

* Loading ALSA drivers...
* Using ALSA OSS emulation
* Loading: snd-seq-oss
* Running card-dependent scripts
* Restoring Mixer Levels
* No mixer config in /etc/asound.state, you have to unmute your card! [ ok ]

how can i unmute my card??

hi, pls try to run:

$ alsamixer

and see if the following channels are mute: Master, PCM, PCM Stream

if so, select them and press 'm' to toggle mute/unmute state, and set them to higher value by pressing the 'up' button.

then as root, run:

# alsactl store

to store the current settings.

as normal user, run:

$ gst-register-0.8

logout gnome, login again and click the "sound tray icon" to see if it works, good luck :)
