|
|
Hi guys,
I finally got farcry working. Pretty amazing, considering I got a Geforce 2 MX .
I got one problem remaining: it won't go fullscreen. I configured cedega to run fullscreen. I don't think it's cedega's problem, because CoD works fullscreen.
If I select full screen in the farcry options, it just gives me a 800x600 window, and just shows me the left-bottom 800x600 pixels. The rest of the screen is just... My desktop. Sorry, don't know how to explain it otherwise.
Can anyone who's got this working post his / her system.cfg file?
Here's mine:

Does the desktop "zoom" into that 800x600 area so that FC appears to take up a full screen, but you can still scroll (by moving mouse) to the rest of the desktop? |

I tried that, but the window is not excactly center, so it displays the title bar, and I'm missing the radar.
My desktop is running at 1280x1024. I simply do not have the system recourses (video memory) to run 2 x servers, one at 800x600 just for farcry. There must be a pretty simple setting I'm missing here? _________________ If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. |

What nvidia drivers are you using? 6106 is known to be incompatible with FarCry. |

They are? I am playing using my Gainward 5700 with the 6106 drivers without a hitch. Well, besides the game pausing every 3 - 5 seconds, but that's not related to the graphics card. |

You got 6106 working with FarCry? I MUST KNOW YOUR CONFIGURATION! Tell me which wine, which resolution, which quality settings, if you used the loki installer, and what your ~/.wine/config looks like. |

Sorry for the long post, but I hope I can help plastic with this...
BTW Plastic: what videocard? Works good on my Geforce 2 (only not fullscreen), might give troubles on other videocards though _________________ If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. |

Oh, and here's the shellscript I use to start Farcry:
Code: |
#!/bin/sh
GAME_BINARY="FarCry.exe"
SUBDIR="Bin32"
WINE_NAMES="cedega"
#----------------------------------------
script=$0
count=0
while [ -L "$script" ]
do
script=`perl -e "print readlink(\"$script\"), \"\n\""`
count=`expr $count + 1`
if [ $count -gt 100 ]
then
echo "Too many symbolic links"
exit 1
fi
done
GAME_DIR=`dirname $script`
if [ -z "$WINE_EXEC" ]
then
WINE_EXEC=`type -p $WINE_NAMES | head -1 `
fi
if [ -e "$WINE_EXEC" ]
then
cd $GAME_DIR
cd $SUBDIR
$WINE_EXEC $GAME_BINARY -DEVMODE $* &
sleep 2 &&
renice 20 -p `pgrep wineserver`
else
echo "Wine(X) not in your PATH"
exit 1
fi

So some of you are actually getting FarCry to run fullscreen without having it match your desktop resolution?
I was always running a separate X server for it. |

Yeah, if I could I would do that to, but 64 Megs in your videocard is barely enough to run farcry, let alone an extra x server + farcry...
I tried downgrading my nvidia drivers, but still the same problem... _________________ If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. |

You might wanna take a look at system.cfg. My version uses 800x600x16...
You could definetly use 1024x768x32... _________________ If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. |

I think the reason that it won't work on my machine is because you have the full version of Cedega, and I only have the un-updated CVS version (known to be glitchy). Maybe I'll shell out the $15 for Cedega and see how it works... |
