Alrite....newbie type question
I have a Dell Inspirion 4150, laptop with a Cirrus Logic CS4205
video controller....however, this isn't supported...but I looked around and found that the solution is to load the Intel ICH (i8xx) kernel module...
So I went through and recompiled the kernel modules, no problem...however, I don't know how to load the module and get sound...
Do I still need to activate the rest of the ALSA stuff?
Help me please

I have also Inspiron 4150 and with me newest alsa-drivers causes some scratces when I watch movies etc.
But those drivers that you have compiled as kernel module works with me perfectly. So don't use ALSA at all. Just put modulename (i810_audio) to /etc/modules.autoload and boot (or don't boot but write modprobe i810_audio).
If you don't have any mixers then you might try out aumix... _________________ << Timi Tuohenmaa << |

I have a 2650 and also found out that the OSS modules (i810_audio) works better than ALSA. Doing a cat /proc/i8k while using alsa audio caused sound problems, which do not happen with OSS |
