I can't get X to start on my GF4 ti 4400. Anyone else been having this problem? X and KDE apear to emerge without errors. I am using the geforce driver in my xf86config file.
side note- X works just fine on a similar machine installed at the same time using an ATI Rage Pro. |

sorry should have listed this in the first posting:
here are the errors I am getting
With the default nv driver:
(EE) No devices detected
Fatal server error:
no screens found
With Nvidia driver:
(EE) Failed to load module "bitmap" (modules deos not exist, 0)
(EE) Failed to load module "pcidata" (module does not exist, 0)
Fatal server error:
Unable to load required base modules, Exiting...
Th nvidia driver seemed to emerge without errors as well. |

I also have a machine with a GF4 in. The 'nv' driver didn't recognise it. But I've had no problems with the nvidia driver.
Probably a stupid question, but you did get the nvidia kernel stuff too?
Code: |
emerge nvidia-kernel nvidia-glx

If you emerge the nvidia-kernel, it will download and install nvidia-glx automatically _________________ This message self destructed a long time ago. |
