After searching the forums I went for the Netgear WG511

It works on the prism 54 chipset and is very well supported... and there are lots of users on this forum that use it and a thread detailing how to install it!

The Proxim 8470-WD is what ya want. It uses the Atheros chipset and I have it working flawlessly in gentoo under a 2.6 kernel. This is the b/g card w/ external output for ant. Enjoy cause this card rox.

I have an SMC 2835W (802.11g pcmcia card) wich uses the prism54 drivers and works very very well and it's super easy to config. It's a good buy if you ask me

I also have good experiences with the Atheros chipset. Both my D-Link DWL-G520 PCI and the built-in thingy in the IBM Thinkpad T40p are Atheros based and work perfectly in 802.11g (never used 80211b personally) under 2.6 gentoo-dev-sources with the madwifi driver.

Cheers
