Ok so I installed from the big cd that had alot of everything. On my compaq armada e 500 laptop. The install went okay I think I had one error but it didnt effect anything major. So now here is my problem no only do I have no clue where to get the ever huge packages cd the guide speaks of, but I downloaded a few portage and tell it install and it hits up the internet. Well I am running into problems since my nic card is pcmcia and doesnt work right now with gentoo. It is not working but thats another topic.
So how do I get the packages cd in one ISO file? Or what all do I need to install a single gui!?!?!?!?!?! |

So you cannot to the net, and therefor cannot emerge packages properly?
Do you have a wifi pcmcia card, or 10baseT?
I have a laptop with built in ethernet, and wifi pcmcia. I have not configured the pcmcia yet, i used the ethernet to connect and get all i need. _________________ "In times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a *revolutionary act" - George Orwell.

if you do a search for pcmcia_cs you should find a posting that has a step by step for getting the pcmcia card bus working and most likely your nic card. I just did it and it seems to me, the best solution. It even says that is for n00bs! Once you've accomplished that, then you can emerge to you hearts content. |
