I'm having problems finding the REAL difference between these three...

Blackbox: What Openbox and Fluxbox are derivatives of.

Fluxbox: (imho) It's just blackbox with quicker, neater, and more resource-friendly code, and some cooler themes.

Openbox: (as of version 3) is a complete rewrite to use a better (imho) XML-style menu/config system, has anti-aliasing font support, really good Xinerama support, and ICCCM compliance.

That was a quick reply.

Well thanks, your information helped me alot. I have one last question though if you wouldnt mind answering it. Which is the best out of all of them? I noticed alot of people used fluxbox because it was cooler, I could be mistaken but if I'm not, I'm aware that cooler isnt always better.

Well I think Fluxbox is stupid because a *box window manager shouldn't have stuff like pixmap themes and transparency..

If you want that stuff just use Enllightenment since it does all those features -better- than Fluxbox.

If I were to choose a *box it's be Openbox or Blackbox..

I'll give openbox a try when I have the chance... But what about fvwm? I have been hearing about it alot and it sounds tempting...

Well, Blackbox has unnecessary bloat (the toolbar) which can't be disabled without patching it...

I started running fluxbox when I noticed that my mousewheel-patched hackedbox and bbkeys ate up more memory than flux :)

Intresting... I'll look more into it...

As I'm trying to find a desktop that fully suits my means, and listens to me, I think I might try this fvwm I'm hearing so much about...
