Evolution is crashing at startup for me. I get a dialog box that says that Evolution has quit unexpectedly, with the choice to Restart Application or Close.
Debugging with gdb gives this error:
Code: |
(evolution:10460): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: g_object_set_valist: construct property "type" for object `ESplash' can't be set after construction
Program received signal SIG32, Real-time event 32.

Not too helpful. I can recompile Evolution with debug info on, if anyone so requires.
Any help, much appreciated. |

There are some threads here which offer a series of possible solutions.
I had this once, too. My problem was that I had this data-server-thingy installed for evolution1-.5*. Unmerging this and re-emerging evolution did it for me.
Other threads mention:
Quote: | remove the /tmp/orbit-$USER directory, restart X, and run Evolution again |
Unfortunately some threads end with no solution given - but maybe these two hints help you out already?

Re-emerged evolution. Deleted the /tmp /orbit directory. Restarted X. Didn't help.
Googled a bit and came across this. My next bet is to re-emerge everything CORBA related. The next bet after that will be to back off ~x86 and install the stable version of evolution and its dependencies. |

But good luck - sorry I to be of no help

I've been running 1.4.6 for a while. But I think I emerged a dependency that broke it. |
