Hi I am wondering if linux and open source have also got alternatives to Windows/Mac when it comes to full fledged finance and accounting packages. Is there anything out there that is open source and more mature and feature rich than gnucash?
Since there seems to be not much dedicated to this topic I'd appreciate it if anyone who knows left the name of the app he/she is using. _________________ To thine own self be true. |

Hey there.... I like using a KDE app called Kmymoney2. I like it better than GNU Cash. Looks better and is simpler to use (Without sacrificing useability).

thx I will have a look at it, but by the looks of their project page the app seems pretty premature.
Do you know of any other package that can compete with commercial accounting packages as is the case with many other open source apps like K3b, OpenOffice, Gimp, etc.? _________________ To thine own self be true. |

well by the looks of it there seems to be either nothing out there or hardly anyone in the linux/unix/opensource community cares about accounting/finance or both
is gnucash the really the best opensource answer to this question _________________ To thine own self be true. |

kmymoney2 is really improving fast. It can pretty much support everything you need and in the next release it will have plenty of report and stock tracking options. I am currently migrating from gnucash to kmymoney2 after using gnuash for over 3 years. You should also look into kbudget as it is very very nice for budgeting and there is talk of integrating kmymoney2 into it. |
