|
|
I have an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe motherboard with built-in 3Com GB-LAN circuits, but the new 2004.2 install CD does not recognize it, and using "modprobe e1000", as would seem to be correct, judging from other posts I saw in the forums, I get an error message "[path]/e1000.o: init_module: no such device"
I have seen posts in these forums from users with ASUS P4C800 motherboards stating the e1000 module worked fine, but it does not for me. Am I missing something? I am thankful for any help you might be able to provide. |

Actually the driver you need is 3c2000, which is available on the asus website and also, I believe, included in the latest knoppix release. For more information search google as well as the gentoo and knoppix forums for "3c2000"
Hope this helps |

I think the driver on the ASUS site only works on 2.4 kernels and is the driver from 3com. The Yukon module is in the kernel and should work fine with your cards. |
