I'm currently having a problem upgrading some packages, and ran into the following error while rebuilding perl:

Code:
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/File::Spec::Win32.3.gz
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/Encode::MIME::Header.3pm.gz
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/Pod::Perldoc::ToMan.3pm.gz
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/subs.3pm.gz
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/ExtUtils::Manifest.3pm.gz
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/bignum.3pm.gz
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/NEXT.3pm.gz
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/ExtUtils::MakeMaker::bytes.3pm.gz
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/Digest::MD5.3pm.gz
>>> /usr/share/man/man3/Sys::Syslog.3pm.gz

!!! ERROR: There appears to be FILE SYSTEM CORRUPTION. A file that is listed
!!!        as existing is not capable of being stat'd. If you are using an
!!!        experimental kernel, please boot into a stable one, force an fsck,
!!!        and ensure your filesystem is in a sane state. 'shutdown -Fr now'
!!!        File:  /var/tmp/portage/perl-5.8.4/image/usr/share/man/man3/FileHandle.tmp
!!!        Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/tmp/portage/perl-5.8.4/image/usr/share/man/man3/FileHandle.tmp'

Anyone have any ideas as to why its broken? I have tried fsck'ing, as well as removing and rebuilding perl, but no luck so far.

Thanks!

Maybe you ran out of space?

Hmm... Tried that out, I don't think it is the problem. I cleared up a bunch of free space but am still running into this...

Code:
!!! ERROR: There appears to be FILE SYSTEM CORRUPTION. A file that is listed
!!!        as existing is not capable of being stat'd. If you are using an
!!!        experimental kernel, please boot into a stable one, force an fsck,

!!!        File:  /var/tmp/portage/perl-5.8.4/image/usr/share/man/man3/FileHandle.tmp
!!!        Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/tmp/portage/perl-5.8.4/image/usr/share/man/man3/FileHandle.tmp'
angelina / # df -h
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda7             7.2G  6.0G  840M  88% /
none                  244M     0  244M   0% /dev/shm
angelina / #

Any other ideas? Thanks...

I'm having the same problem. I did the fsck, etc. Space is definitely not the problem (unless it suddenly chews up 6GB and releases it.) This is strange though. If I try to look for the file, I get the error that there is no file or directory FileHandle.tmp ...

Code:
osmium man3 # pwd
/var/tmp/portage/perl-5.8.4/image/usr/share/man/man3

osmium man3 # ls -l FileHandle*
ls: FileHandle.tmp: No such file or directory
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root         3655 Jul 27 17:10 FileHandle.3pm.gz

Well it's good to know that someone else is experiencing the same thing... Now if anyone knew how to fix it! That's even better news ;)

This appears to be a duplicate of: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=148704&highlight=appears+file+system+corruption

Not the same version of perl, but the same problem.

Hmm... Yes, the tunefs command in the bug link seems to have fixed my problem. Thanks for the link!
