How can I allow a user that is logged in over ssh to spawn programs (gkrellm, openoffice, whatever)... do they have to be part of a certain group or something?
I usually do this on my own machines where they all run under the same username, and this is the first time I've been interested in getting this kind of thing set up.
I was looking into LTSP, but I don't know how suitable that is for a VNC-type connection. Ultimately, I just want my roommates to be able to fool around on one of my linux boxes without them having to dual boot or something. |

hello,
you should find some stuff by searching on this forum. The white box on uper right !
try to search : "export DISPLAY" "X11 forwarding"
From window machine : use a X11 client + ssh client (with X11 forwarding enabled)
From a unix box : ssh -x -l toto unixbox2
hope to help ![Wink ](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

Maybe I failed to be clear on my last post. I(cam) already can forward X programs.
Other users can't though. |

can you forward X11 in putty when you click the "Forward X11" button?
if so, then yes. |
