hi
i got several problems using firestarter, these are the ones I didn't find a solution yet. I'd appreciate help:
1) If i add firestarter a bootlevel default, he complains about not being able to use a GUI - WHERE should I add firestarter in order to have it started at boottime ???
2) Starting firestarter as a user:
not possible due to "permission denied" complains
3) Starting firestarter as root:
Several Errors, wich are:

Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed. |
don't know what this one means, then several
| Code: | | iptables: No chain/target/match by that name |
and
| Code: | iptables v1.2.7a: Unknown arg `--reject-with'
Try `iptables -h' or 'iptables --help' for more information.

If firestarter is up, it seems to deny all packages (but it's not up after reboot, as I mentioned), but logging does not seem to work.

| It sounds to me like you don't have some netfilter modules available like firestarter wants (though I've never used firestarter myself). For the "unknown arg: --reject-with" line, I'm guessing you don't have "REJECT target support" enabled. I believe that the ipt_REJECT module also defines a chain named "REJECT," too, which could be the problem with your second error message. Go into your kernel config and make all the Netfilter stuff into modules, then see how things work. |
