|
|
I just did emerge emacs and it installed xfree86, but startx still didnt work and there was no /etc/X11/XF86Config file. So I typed emerge xfree and installed 4.2.1 i believe. Then i did emerge gnome. Still no startx, and now there is no X11 file in /etc.
Any ideas? Thanks... cause lynx is cool but getting annoying

You have to configure X11 yourself to get the XF86Config file using either:
startx should be located in /usr/X11R6/bin/startx.

I got XF86Config configured, but my mouse jumps all over the screen when I try to startx, and the screen is 4 times bigger than the monitor. I set the resolutions right. Also, when I try to make install the nvidia drivers, I get an error. I never have had a problem installing nvidia drivers with any other distro.
Thanks |

works fine now, but gnome only works under failsafe - not under regular gnome. nvidia drivers still wont make.
