I just downloaded the Gentoo Live-CD ,, 1.4.
And when i have done:
ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.51 broadcast 192.168.0.255 netmask 255.255.255.0
and
route add -net default gw 192.168.0.1 netmask 0.0.0.0 metric 1
and i try to ping another computer in the network.
I get no answear!...
I got a RealTek 8139card |

I'm trying to install a new gentoo 1.4 now.
And I can't get connections to network. |

Can you ping by IP? Perhaps the name isn't resolving.
The kernel on the boot cd has support for your card built in - what does dmesg say in regards to the network card? |
