Does anyone know anything about gnome-ppp http://www.gnome-ppp.org/?

It looks pretty and I'm curious if it's in portage yet or not. I looked but didn't see it and I didn't know if it was in a separate package with other things or yeah.

Any ideas?

I've just started looking at gnome-ppp today. I use broadband myself but I'm trying to build a Gentoo box for someone else that will work with dialup and use GNOME.

I see that gnome-ppp is a front-end to WvDial and WvDial is in portage now. I also see that there are a bunch of KDE front-ends for it.

What I don't see is anything in portage for gnome-ppp yet. I'm going to try to bring it up from source and then maybe use PORTDIR_OVERLAY. I've never built a portage port before but I have three ports in the FreeBSD ports tree now.

Oh, spoke too soon, there's this

http://gentoo.vidalinux.com/packages/ebuilds/gnome-ppp-0.3.0.ebuild

but the current version is 0.3.2.

After all that they go and buy broadband at the last minute.

Can't say I blame them though. :)

Look at my previous posts for a URL pointing to an ebuild file. You can bump up the version number in that ebuild to the current release's version and it will compile/install with no problems.

I use it:
Code:

darkhorse root # emerge -s gnome-ppp
Searching...

*  net-dialup/gnome-ppp
      Latest version available: 0.3.14
      Latest version installed: 0.3.14
Size of downloaded files: 476 kB
      Homepage:    http://www.gnome-ppp.org/
Description: A GNOME 2 WvDial frontend
      License:     GPL-2

But I had to download the file from the website (http://www.gnome-ppp.org/download.php) as the ebuild was broken:
bug: #57718
