I am using a nVidia card now and I also have onboard Intel graphics and I want to use it for a second monitor. In XF86Config:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Extreme"
VendorName "Unknown"
BoardName "Unknown"
Driver "i810"
BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
But the Intel won't start. These are the errors:
(EE) I810(1): Cannot read V_BIOS
(EE) I810(1): VBE initialization failed.
The Intel works in Knoppix. What's wrong?

It sounds like you are having the same issue as me. I'm running the Asus P4P800-VM which has the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 adapter internally. I use an NVidia card in the AGP slot.
I cannot get them both to work, becasue I suspect that the internal chip is also AGP. the AGP standard does not share with other cards. You can only have one AGP card on the system at once. The bios will turn on only one at a time depending on the setting.
To see more on this, go into the bios and turn on the internal video chip (Intel). Then do a lspci and you will see it listed with no Nvidia listed. If you give AGP precedence in the bios, upon reboot, lspci will show only the NVidia card with no intel chip.
If anybody knows how to get the motherboard to turn on both cards, that would be great, but it seem to be an impossibility at this point. _________________ Adopt an unanswered post now! |

My nVidia is PCI though... and I remember having two monitors working with this computer in Mandrake once. |
