I recently tried getting my Nvidia drivers, and followed the directions in the handbook. I got an error when I tried starting X, so I let my friend try to fix it. He ended up making a bunch of changes to my XF86Config and now X won't even start up when I use "nv". Is there a way I can restore the file to default or something? |

You didn't make a backup of the /etc/X11/XF86Config file first? You could try running the program /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config to generate a new one. |

I may have made a backup, if I did, I don't know where I stuck it. I may end up having to create a new one. |

Ok, first problem fixed. Turns out it doesn't like having default bit depth as 24, so I set it back to 16 and it works. I still have the video driver problem (I get a no screens found error), but I can probably find an answer to that around here somewhere. Thanks for the quick replies. |
