Hi. I recently switched back to GNOME from KDE and I am running into esound problems. I hear no sound when I try to play something with 'esdplay'. On the other hand, 'aplay' works just fine. I checked to see if the esd process was started by GNOME, and it seems that it indeed was.
Code: |
ali@gravity:~> esdplay $KDEDIR/share/sounds/pop.wav # nothing plays
ali@gravity:~> aplay $KDEDIR/share/sounds/pop.wav #
Playing WAVE '/usr/kde/3.3/share/sounds/pop.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 44100 Hz, Mono
ali@gravity:~> ps afx | grep esd
9174 ? S 0:00 /usr/bin/esd -terminate -nobeeps -as 2 -spawnfd 17
11120 pts/12 R 0:00 \_ grep esd

Does any body have any clues about what might be going on? There are no problems with KDE and the arts sound daemon. There seems to be a zero to little documentation about esound on the net so I am basically stumped. |

What flags were compiled into esound? If you have equery installed (provided with gentoolkit), you should be able to check. _________________ "No question is so difficult to answer as that to which the answer is obvious" -- George Bernard Shaw |
