i have a 60gb hd but it's only currently using 5gbs at the moment. did i botch something during install in the partioning process? what's preventing me from accessing the other sectors of the drive? i've having difficulty reading the information--

I agree with geforce; it sounds like you told fdisk the wrong partition sizes. It thinks your /dev/hda3 partition is only 5.6 gigs. Re-read the section in the gentoo install howto about using fdisk and how to partition drives. That should fix the problem. If you still have trouble, repost.
