the 2.4.x kernels are fine, but I have tried all the different 2.6.x kernels, and all my video as well as audio playback is all jittery..

?? Jittery to the point of not watchable/listenable..

Is there a reason for this? What can I check? Is it a kernel parm that I'm setting that I should??

arrr.. feel so frustrated because the 2.6 is a lot faster...

:cry: :oops: :cry:

Could you tell us the name of your video-player? I had similar problems with mplayer and fixed it swiching the audio output from esd to alsa.

It makes no difference, I've tried them all, and they've all been jittery under 2.6 but not under 2.4.

mplayer, xmms, Kaboodle, etc..

So it's a kernel issue, as the same players don't have a problem under 2.4. Also, not just audio, but video as well..

running ck-sources 2.6.7-ck5

added "elevator=cfq" and everything became ok..

I thought cfq was the default?? No??

Whatever.. it solved the problem though, and that's all I care about, no jittery video and no jittery audio...

hope this helps others in trouble...

I was going to try:

elevator=as
elevator=noop
elevator=none
elevator=deadline

if cfq didn't work, but it did..
