How do I emerge KDE 3.3 beta? I did emerge serach kde but I only saw 3.2. I thought I read that KDE 3.3 was not masked. Why can't I find it?

Thanks!

Is your system stable, or unstable? The kdebase-3.3.0_beta2 ebuild is marked ~x86 in my portage tree...

It is stable...sorta. See my other post https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=203654&highlight=problems+kde. I figured that even a beta had to be better than what I have now!

I am new to Gentoo, since kdebase-3.3.0_beta2 is marked with ~x86 that means it is masked right? Or is that something different?

If so, is there anyway that I can unmask only kde3.3? Do I do that in a portage.unmask file or something?

Thanks!

Ah, in terms of portage, you're running a stable system. The recommended way to install an unstable package is explained very well in this howto:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=171464

If you have any problems with it, just ask! :D

Edit: This, from the docs section of http://www.gentoo.org, should also help explain about masked packages, and those with the ~x86 keyword:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=2&chap=2#doc_chap4
