I have not even got to install Gentoo. On Boot of the New 2004.2 disc I get that Kernel Panic: Attempting to kill init. I also have had this issue with the 2004.1 disc and it is starting to make me wonder what is doing it. My system is as follows:

Soyo KT400 Ultra
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
512mb Ultra DDR PC2700
Mitsumi CR-48XCTE Burner
Pioneer DVD-120S DVD-Rom

Bios is updated to the lastest version as well.

Any ideas at as to how to get it to boot from the new disk please let me know.

One more thing I can get the 2004.0 disc to boot at last check.

Try passing apci=off at the boot: prompt.

One of them might help...

Ok

Code:
Try passing apci=off at the boot: prompt.

Tried that and got this: Could not find kernel image: apci=off.
I am not sure what is up there thanks all the help.

I think the suggestion was to try gentoo acpi-off. Gentoo being the kernel, and acpi=off being an option passed to said kernel.

woops, not only did I not give you enough information, but I also typo-ed. You'd think I'd be better at this by now...

boot: gentoo acpi=off

ACPI is a power management system, not really important for desktop users. In 2.4.x kernels such as the one on your LiveCD, ACPI causes problems with some hardware configurations. Fortunately, ACPI is very stable in the 2.6.x kernel.

As a side note, press F1 and F2 at the boot prompt to learn more about your kernel and boot parameter options, such as the gentoo kernel and the acpi parameter. For example, if you don't use a RAID array, you can pass noraid at the boot prompt to skip RAID detection.
