|
|
I am using the 2.6.8-gentoo-rc2 kernel which includes 1.04 alsa driver.
I want to upgrade to 1.05a alsa-drivers.
emerge wont do it because its builtin to the kernel.
Is there a recommended process to upgrade without waiting for a new kernel release which includes it? |

you could download the newest version from the web and patch your kernel by yourself. |

or you could install another kernel type: Code: | cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.5 (Sun May 30 10:49:40 2004 UTC).
Compiled on Jul 15 2004 for kernel 2.6.8-rc1-mm1. |
as you see my 2.6.8-rc1-mm1 (i have installed 2.6.8-rc2-mm1, but I am to lazy to boot now) has the 1.0.5 alsa modules.
cheers

Perhaps this HOWTO that I wrote could help. |
