I'm building a new server and I'm looking for suggestions on the kernel to use. I definetly want to use a 2.6 kernel but I'm not sure what sources I should go with exactly. Any suggestions? _________________ My Site |

I'd recommend the vanilla kernel (development-sources) unless your really need a patch that is included in another kernel tree.
If you get troubles you're most likely to get support when not using a kernel with a uncommon patchset and there are no real performance benefits that can be gained by using a non-vanilla kernel (in my opinion ).

The only real patch I need is the forcedeth patch but I'm pretty sure that has been officaily added to the 2.6 kernel so I guess development-sources will be the way to go. _________________ My Site |
