|
|
Everything was fine until
emerge gentoo-dev-sources
If calculated dependencies and then when to the internet to find them. Of course if failed with my networkless install. How do I get it to pull the kernel from the liveCD? I tried emerge gentoo-sources with the same result. Did I miss something to tell emerge to get info from the CD instead of from the internet?
Seems similar to this old thread:

Have you tried copying the required files from the CD into the /usr/portage/distfiles directory, or setting the variables in make.conf to tell portage where else to look (PKGDIR ?) _________________ Keyboard error or no keyboard present. Press F1 to continue. |

I got through
cp /mnt/cdrom/distfiles/* /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/distfiles/
and it went on and on, so I assume it was successful. How can I check if it copied the file I need?
Please tell me more about how to tell portage where to look. I am baffled, and really don't feel comfortable getting away from the standard install at this point... |

I have the same problem. In the distfiles folder on the Universal-live-CD I can´t find gentoo-dev-sources. It is only a file named linux-2.6.7.tar.bz2, which you can´t install with emerge. I think we must install the kernel manually.
Sorry, my English is not so perfect because I´m from Germany |

SOLVED: I had some bad sectors on the CDROM. I burned a new CD and copied over the distfiles and VOILA! everything was there. Back underway. |
