This indicates that you do not have all the config files set up for fluidmanager, the reason is probably that I had a small typo in
the script which was supposed to check for the existance of the
configuration file. You have to write the path to your fluidportage
overlay (trunk dir) to /root/.fluidportage |

yup, sn4ip3r was right. I had to make a new file .fluidportage and put /usr/local/trunk in there and it worked perfectly after that. |

Thanks for reminding me thereof; I've added it to the howto. |

There seem to be problems with fluidportage. The site was refusing connections earlier today and now I am getting 404s on the full URL and the default apache screen for the host only. I want to bask in CVS goodness and home that nothing severe has happened to the server.
Thank you all for this excellent resource. |

I'm guessing it's still down? Give it a bit of time and it will hopefully be up soon. |

I still can't connect to fluid portage. Here's what happens:
Code: | root@localhost /usr/local # svn co http://kaspersandberg.com/fluidportage
svn: PROPFIND request failed on '/fluidportage'
svn: PROPFIND of '/fluidportage': could not connect to server (http://kaspersandberg.com)
|
The last post makes it seem that the site is up. Am I doing something incorrect? I haven't successfully connected yet. |

At the moment the repository does seem to be down, have to wait until redeeman wakes up and fixes this. |

Nice help, I emerged a lot of the cvs ebuilds. Great work.
But today, I wanted to upgarde packages, with the fluidmanager script, and I'm getting alot of these with different packages:
* PACKAGE: gnome-base/gnome-keyring-cvs-20040812 has had 1 change(s) since "2004-08-15 17:39"

!!! failed emerge gnome-base/gnome-keyring-cvs-20040812

Is this just a temporary problem of the CVS server itself, or a problem of my setup (I followed the help on page 1) or something else?
Thank! |

First, the ebuilds for kde-cvs are old. They are dated 20040602. The latest ones are dated 20040806 if you go to http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/kde/kde-cvs.xml.
Second, I'm having problems with the hal-cvs. It is stalling out on me. This last time I tried it got to:
make[2]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/hal-cvs-20040522/work/hal-cvs/doc'
Making all in api
make[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/hal-cvs-20040522/work/hal-cvs/doc/api'
/usr/bin/doxygen
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/hal-cvs-20040522/work/hal-cvs/doc/api'
Making all in spec
make[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/hal-cvs-20040522/work/hal-cvs/doc/spec'
/usr/bin/docbook2html --nochunks hal-spec.xml -o .
Then it stalls and does nothing. Any clues on how I can get past this? |

Edit:
Sorry about the double post. I was having trouble with my internet connection and it showed that it didn't go through the first time. |

dont count on the timestamp on ebuilds - it does not matter, it fetches CVS HEAD |

You could try Code: | USE="-doc" emerge hal-cvs |
btw. it emerges fine here with USE="doc". |

It seems that your docbook2html doesn't work then, this is what I get:
Code: | ...
make[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/hal-cvs-20040522/work/hal/doc/spec'
/usr/bin/docbook2html --nochunks hal-spec.xml -o .
Using catalogs: /usr/share/sgml/dtd/sgmltools/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/docbook/sgml-dtd-3.0/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/docbook/sgml-dtd-3.1/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/docbook/sgml-dtd-4.0/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/docbook/sgml-dtd-4.1/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/docbook/sgml-dtd-4.2/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/docbook/dsssl-stylesheets-1.77/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/xml-iso-entities-8879.1986/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/sgml-iso-entities-8879.1986/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/openjade-1.3.2/dsssl/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/openjade-1.3.2/catalog, /usr/share/sgml/opensp-1.5.1/OpenSP/catalog
Using stylesheet: /usr/share/sgml/docbook/utils-0.6.12/docbook-utils.dsl#html
Working on: /var/tmp/portage/hal-cvs-20040522/work/hal/doc/spec/hal-spec.xml
Done.
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/hal-cvs-20040522/work/hal/doc/spec'
... |
You could try re-emerging related packages like app-text/docbook-sgml-utils (I have app-text/docbook-sgml-utils-0.6.12-r2), app-text/docbook-sgml and app-text/docbook-sgml-dtd (which has multiple simultaneously installed version) |

I tried this just now. I re-emerge all of the above including all 5 of the app-text/docbook-sgml-dtd. Hal-cvs is still stalling in the same spot. |

Does it use CPU or does it just sit there and do nothing? |

Maybe it just takes ages ... had someting similar with Eclipse, javadoc was taking more time than compilation. _________________ "Because two groups of consumers drive the absolute high end of home computing: the gamers and the porn surfers." /.

No it is not using the CPU during the time it is stalled. |
