Hi all,
I'm trying to get kphone to work, but when I try to dial out (or answer an incomning call) I get the following error-message:
Quote: | Close any program which might be using soundcard and then retry dial. |
I've configured kphone to use /dev/dsp (which is the default).
I'm using 'vanilla' kernel 2.6.7 with the Alsa sound system. I've loaded the snd_pcm_oss module in order to get the /dev/dsp device. I've emerged alsa-lib, alsa-oss, alsa-headers and alsa-drivers.
I have no problems playing other sounds in KDE.
Any help is greatly appreciated! (I'm loosing my hair due to this)
Thanks,
Kent |

Hey there,
It could be that ARTS is doing that to you. Try disabling that.

Ahh, thanks!
If I set auto-suspend to 10 sec, and disable all those (annoying) KDE notification sounds, I'm able to use the sound device (after 10 sec, ofcause).
Isn't there a 'nice' way to make artsd not block the device? So that they can coexists peacefully??
Thanks,

hi..
you can try to start kphone via artsdsp. artsdsp provides a virtual /dev/dsp for the application.
