Fonts: Russians, etc... not working !

i can't get my browser firefox/konqueror the fonts right :(, yeap i tryed going and telling it to autodetect the russian fonts, tryed manually telling it use this russian fonts, the forum is filled with a few posts of 1 year old that didn't help

changes ALL my other fonts into ugly fonts... yea it works it shows russian letters ok, but the tittle of the browser when visiting www.gentoo.ru is nothing but some squares...
so that's not an option :(

tryed modifing /etc/X11/XF86config and then restarting X

(us, italian, romanian, russian), didn't help

i see boxes with numbers in them instead of letters with these languages :
Finnish, Greek, Portuguese,Scandinavian, who knows what else... (just opened he "Internation gentoo users" links...)

anyway i'm mainly interested in getting the russian fonts to work, any ideas?

also if i type in russian in firefox it shows too those boxes
if i try to type in romanian i only get english letters, WTF? :evil:
