I have installed framebuffer and bootsplash and it works fine, but when X is started and I go back to the console, I only see a screen with a lot of colours.
I have a gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.7-r11 kernel and a nvidia card. |

Most nVidia cards that I've used seem to have these problems, as well as some early matrox cards.
I think it's aggravated by changing resoulutions and switching between virtual consoles though.
I think the framebuffer for some cards support just sucks in general.

| I am getting the exact same error on nvidia + bootsplash + xorg. I had the problem for a while and it went away, probably due to a new kernel version, but now it is back. |
