|

ok when I try to emerge nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glk it says
Quote: |
* This version needs MTRR support for most chipsets!
* Please enable MTRR support in your kernel config, found at:
*
* Processor type and features -> [*] MTRR (Memory Type Range Register) support
*
* and recompile your kernel ...
|
Well the FIRST time I tried that I went bake to make menuconfig and added in MTRR support into my kernel, recompiled, installed, and rebooted.
Tried to emerge again and got the same thing again.
Anyone have any clues!? I'll be happy to post any info you may need!
Thanks![/quote] _________________ Shuttle SN41G2

Are you sure you had /boot mounted when you copied the new kernel over? _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

I'm new to everything linux and wanted to try it. My brother told me about Gentoo and I wanted to learn as I go so I tried it. I've looked through tons of documentation and can't findout exactly how to install the latest version of the nvidia drivers (I think it's 6106).
Can you tell me exactly how to do so?
Also how do I know I have them installed? _________________ Shuttle SN41G2

Code: | mkdir -p /etc/portage
echo "nvidia-kernel ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
echo "nvidia-glx ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
emerge -av nvidia-{kernel,glx} |
That should do it...
Edit: There's a thread in Documentation, Tips and Tricks about how to use portage properly. That's probably worth a read, as It can be very helpful. _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

Exactly. Just type y, or yes, or nothing at all, and press enter. _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |
