I have a feeling that the messages directly above where you started are what's important....

To me this looks like a malformed format string in a printf, fscanf, sprintf, etc. I highly doubt that's the actual problem, but the symptoms look that way.

I notice you're on an UltraSparc machine, did you make the proper changes to /etc/make.conf before bootstrapping?

EDIT: what's this??? (in your CFLAGS)

-mcpu=t\x

Check your make.conf and your /etc/make.profile/make.globals for that...

I agree that the error above would have been nice - that was the maximum scroll back on the terminal I was using.

This is getting silly now....I have tried a stage 2 install which fails during 'emerge system' with the following error....

ext/IO/t/io_multihomed...............Bad file descriptor at ../ext/IO/t/io_multihomed.t line 112.
Connection timed out at ../ext/IO/t/io_multihomed.t line 98.

....should I just assume that none of these builds have been tested and give up (they are marked release ) or am I seeing some unusual problems?
