i recently got a 2400+ and performed a new stage 1 install, everything worked fine for a couple of weeks
its not overclocked at all
i was running it with 512mb ddr2100 and then i recently got another stick of 256mb of ddr2100
somewhere around this time i began getting hardlocks under heavy loads
my cpu temp is a bit high under load at about 59C peak, but that shouldnt be a problem
i was running experimental kernels however they werenot the problem as i switched to the vanilla sources and the hardlocks continued
i decided to try a reinstall for the hell of it, and the system began hardlocking during the bootstrap on the livecd
this leads me to believe that the problem may be hardware related
i ran memtest86 and got no errors
and just as a side note, im not sure if this means anything, but from time to time the same livecd would detect my 2400+ at different frequencies ranging from 1998mhz to 2004 mhz
im sure i left out some useful info, if i did just let me know
thanks in advance _________________ http://www.whatsinyourbox.org -- Technology discussion, news, and more. |

Sounds like the good old APIC / ACPI issues. Try disabling APIC support in the kernel or booting with noapic - that should fix it. If that fails turn acpi off as well.. |
