I have come to the conclusion that there is an issue with e7505 chipset and the current ati drivers on all linux platforms. I have tried 3 different types of cards, and 2 7505 boards, and everytime i get the same problem. I hae posted this error before, to which there was no solution.

I have followed all rage3d discussions, read everything ATI related on here, and I cannot find any solution. I have asked Ati directly and intel, and suprisingly, I have had no answer (little sarcasm thrown in there)

error message is:

Code:
(II) fglrx(0): [drm] register handle = 0xd8100000
(EE) fglrx(0): [agp] unable to acquire AGP, error "xf86_EINVAL"
(EE) fglrx(0): cannot init AGP
(II) fglrx(0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel
(II) fglrx(0): [drm] unmapping 8192 bytes of SAREA 0xf1b60000 at 0xb7d14000
(WW) fglrx(0): ***********************************************
(WW) fglrx(0): * DRI initialization failed!                  *
(WW) fglrx(0): * (maybe driver kernel module missing or bad) *
(WW) fglrx(0): * 2D acceleraton available (MMIO)             *
(WW) fglrx(0): * no 3D acceleration available                *
(WW) fglrx(0): ********************************************* *
(II) fglrx(0): FBADPhys: 0xe8000000 FBMappedSize: 0x08000000
(WW) fglrx(0): Failed to set up write-combining range (0xe8000000,0x8000000)

Just would like to know if anyone out there has a e7505 chipset and has managed to get the ati drivers working with full DRI functionality ?

Well,

after I posted countless logs and files about this, I finally bumped into a user on rage3d who was able to tell me that my mtrr registers were blocking the cacheable area used by my agp drivers in reg02.

unloaded agp modules in init3, rebooted, set echo "disable=2" > /proc/mtrr and then loaded all the modules up again and everything is fine :)
