genkernel all failed with 2.6.7-r11 (URGENT)

I got the message:
mount: fs type ext2 not supported by kernel
* ERROR: Could not mount the initrd filesystem!

But the kernel config file /usr/share/genkernel/x86/kernel-config-2.6 does have ext2 support. What's the problem? Thanks in advance.

Check that it is compiled into the kernel, not as a module since to get the module you need to read the harddrive. Other than that, need more info.

Is this a new system or just a kernel recompile?
