Wah! I want XFree86 back.

I use "copy" under rdesktop (running remotely) and get

Error of failed request: BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 18 (X_ChangeProperty)
Atom id in failed request: 0x186
Serial number of failed request: 16003
Current serial number in output stream: 16005

rdesktop crashes. By "running remotely" I mean "ssh -XC remotehost" then start rdesktop there.

I use Mozilla on a remote box and get a message about "RENDER" not being installed despite xdpyinfo listing RENDER.

I try to use firefox 0.8 remotely and get

Gdk-ERROR **: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
serial 324 error_code 9 request_code 73 minor_code 0
Gdk-ERROR **: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)
serial 325 error_code 10 request_code 102 minor_code 0

firefox doesn't start

This is just the first day. At this rate I will be finding bugs all over in xorg.

Just a guess here. Did you upgrade OpenSSH recently? I used to get these error messages but adding

Code:

Host *
  ForwardX11Trusted yes

to /etc/ssh/ssh_config helped. Why? Because

Quote:

From the new OpenSSH-3.8p1-1 announcement:

* ssh(1) now uses untrusted cookies for X11-Forwarding.
Some X11 applications might need full access to the X11 server,
see ForwardX11Trusted in ssh(1) and xauth(1) for more information.

x.org has been nothing but smooth for me. I don't use rdesktop but I do use vnc.

Embobo,

I was having a very similar problem -- and
your fix helpled. But now I am getting

VNC server supports protocol version 3.3 (viewer 3.3)
Password:
VNC authentication succeeded
Desktop name "chrisg's X desktop (nenya:1)"
Connected to VNC server, using protocol version 3.3
VNC server default format:
32 bits per pixel.
Least significant byte first in each pixel.
True colour: max red 255 green 255 blue 255, shift red 16 green 8 blue 0
Using default colormap which is TrueColor. Pixel format:
32 bits per pixel.
Least significant byte first in each pixel.
True colour: max red 255 green 255 blue 255, shift red 16 green 8 blue 0
CleanupXErrorHandler called
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 42 (X_SetInputFocus)
Serial number of failed request: 896
Current serial number in output stream: 896

when I minimize my vncviewer. Any chance it is related or another
problem that you know the answer to?

Thanks
-hcg
