RP-PPPOE Problem

Last night I went to connect (adsl-start) and then for some reason that I can't remember I pressed ctrl+c to stop it, that didn't seem to kill it though as I tried connecting again and it said it was already running, so I tried adsl-stop, that worked, but I still couldn't start, so I went to bed and thought I'd figure it out in the morning, I woke up, tried again still wouldn't work, so I finally rebooted, and it doesn't seem to want to even talk to my modem now.... I'm in knoppix now so I know it's not any hardware problems...... so anyone know how I could fix my problem? I don't want to reinstall as I'd prefer to learn how to fix my problems.

Don't worry, I fixed it by unemerging it and then emerging it again.... annoying though..... I really don't like rp-pppoe after that.
