hmmm, I must be missing something really obvious here, but can't find what it is. In OS X, the gentoo-specific man-pages are installed into /usr/lib/portage/man:
Code: | % ll /usr/lib/portage/man
total 176k
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 3.1k Jul 13 10:45 cvs.eclass.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 2.7k Jul 13 10:45 dispatch-conf.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 1.6k Jul 13 10:45 distutils.eclass.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 7.6k Jul 13 10:45 ebuild.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 26k Jul 13 10:45 ebuild.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 24k Jul 13 10:45 emerge.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 1.0k Jul 13 10:45 env-update.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 1.2k Jul 13 10:45 etc-update.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 8.5k Jul 13 10:45 eutils.eclass.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 2.3k Jul 13 10:45 flag-o-matic.eclass.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 917 Jul 13 10:45 g-cpan.pl.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 4.9k Jul 13 10:45 games.eclass.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 2.1k Jul 13 10:45 gcc.eclass.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 12k Jul 13 10:45 make.conf.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 1.9k Jul 13 10:45 perl-module.eclass.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 12k Jul 13 10:45 portage.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 1.8k Jul 13 10:45 quickpkg.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 3.5k Jul 13 10:45 repoman.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 1.5k Jul 13 10:45 rpm.eclass.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 1.9k Jul 13 10:45 ssl-cert.eclass.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 1.4k Jul 13 10:45 stardict.eclass.5

So I added this directory to my $manpath:
Code: | % echo $MANPATH
/sw/share/man:/Users/pindar/man:/usr/share/man:/usr/local/man:/usr/local/share/man:/usr/local/teTeX/man:/usr/lib/portage/man:/usr/X11R6/man |
And yet, the man-pages are not found:
Code: | % man emerge
No manual entry for emerge |
Any ideas where I'm missing something?
Thanks!

Yes, that is an established problem with Gentoo for MacOS. I don't know if a bug has been started. I might have started one, but I forget. Its probable that no bug exists. I'm sitting on the sidewalk mooching off of someones wifi connection and my legs and feet are falling asleep so I don't really want to take the time to check. Hopefully somedone (maybe myself, although I doubt it) will get around to fixing this soon. Thanks for remninding me of this. IF you can't find an already exisiting bug, please create one. |

Someone must have fixed this; "man emerge" and friends now work on OS X. |
