Is there a list of the PPC gentoo packages anywhere. I presume that a lot of them will work out of the box and I know that work was done complex packages like KDE, but what about things like java, xine (dvd playback) and others?
Thanks

The packages available for PPC are exactly the same than those available for x86 since both trees have been merged. Of course, there may still be some issues. For instance some packages (like lilo, grub or vmware) naturally won't run on PPC hardware. Others have not been fully adapted to the PPC platform and may not compile properly at the moment. I'd say the larger part should work just fine though. _________________ ________________________________________

i am thinking we should *really* startup a list in here of apps in portage that are known to _not_ work on ppc for obvious reasons, then maybe they can be masked out of ppc portage somehow?
Things like vmware in thre gave me a chuckle
