I have a mini atx system that I built a GA-k8-vt800M motherboard and a athlon 64 300+ dtr notebook cpu and it works well and posts as the correct cpu during bootup but clocks down to 800MHz when I boot into my linux install and stays there. I tried using powernow-k8 it loads recognizes the cpu correctly and throttles up to 1800MHz but a couple of seconds afer loading the driver my computer just powers off abruptly. When I boot into my windows install and use ClockGen and CPUID to throttle up I can use my processor at full speed flawlessly. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this and does anyone know if it is possible to change the frequency of the processor without cpufreq because cpufreq just crashes my system.
here is my cpuinfo

not having the system (laptop with 3000+ dtr) in front of me, this is all from memory...
I compiled the powernow_k8 into the kernel (not as module) and set it to userspace. emerge powernowd and set it to run on boot. at that point Everything Just Worked(tm). I run a little gkrellm plugin that shows me the cpu speed, and just let the system change the speed as necessary. If you want/need more info, i'll be happy to look it up. _________________ There is nothing that a non-comformist hates more than a conformist.

The same problem here.
I have already tried powernowd, cpufreqd, and ondemand mode of kernel.
But everything caused crash.
I have tried in gentoo-sources-2.6.11-r5 and vanilla-sources-2.6.12-rc6.
Now, I am changing the clock speed manually on demand -.-;;;;
Interestingly, it's ok in this condition.
I think that my configuration is good.
I am using another laptop flawlessly with speedstep.
Here is my desktop infomation.

My mainboard was GA-K8NP by gigabyte.
After upgrade of bios which supports CnQ, it works fine.
Thanks. |
