I'm a n00b so here we go......
So after installing the portage port for OSX, getting confused, using a perl script from http://dev.gentoo.org/~alexander/files/uninstall.pl...
So I download the portage DMG file for another go at the install, I run the OSX installation, type in "/usr/portage/scripts/bootstrap-macos.sh"
then I use the directions at this site "http://www.wonderwarp.com/alex/tipiwiki/index.php?wiki=GentooForMacOS"
When I get to the EMERGE WORLD/SYSTEM command , the first two packages install fine until I get this error
Code:
G4:/Users/Donni root# emerge system
Calculating system dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 3) sys-devel/gnuconfig-20040214 to /
>>> md5 src_uri gnuconfig-20040214.tar.bz2
>>> Checking gnuconfig-20040214.tar.bz2's mtime...
>>> WORKDIR is up-to-date, keeping...
>>> It appears that gnuconfig is already compiled; skipping.
>>> (clean to force compilation)
>>> Test phase [not enabled]: sys-devel/gnuconfig-20040214
>>> Install gnuconfig-20040214 into /var/tmp/portage/gnuconfig-20040214/image/ category sys-devel
man:

Bit confused here... Why do you have to run the bootstrap-macos.sh script?
I've just installed it using the instructions here:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/Gentoo_MacOS
No mention of bootstrapping, And I just emerged unrar with no problems (chosen because its simple) and its running perfectly.
The problem I'm having at the moment is that /etc/portage/package.provided isn't working
Ideas anyone? |
