Currently I am using XFree on my Dell 600m laptop. I was wondering if I should make the switch to XOrg. Are there any advantages?

I think the biggest advantage right now is that xorg is going to be the package that will be maintained in gentoo while xfree will be obsolete. As xorg and xfree are still very similar it might be the best time to switch now as it is in my experience pretty painless.

Remember though, that X.org is supposed ot have new betas with XDamage and XComposite and much better GPU/CPU usage in about a week or so, and X.org is supposed to have an official release with those on the 25th of August.

Link So I would say go with X.org...
