Hello all,

I think I screwed up a little 8O... I am building a failover mail server for our company and in the process cloned the main mail server and all its configuration.

That includes fetchmail, which I added to the default runlevel and also copied the global fetchmailrc config file. I could swear that I renamed it so it wouldn't get read by the fetchmail process on the failover server, but now I saw that it fetched about 10 mails from the pop3 mailhost at our service provider's which got delivered to the users on the failover server. The real users don't even know about that server and probably never will, plus it is not yet fully functional.

That worked because postfix runs and is configured to deliver by mailbox command = /usr/bin/procmail -a $EXTENSION. procmail is configured (by system-wide default) to deliver to DEFAULT=$HOME/.maildir/.

Since I cloned everthing (that includes the users, the password file, the shadow file, the groups, etc, etc...) those 10 mails are now in about 6 home directories (I know which) under ~/.maildir/new.

The question is: how do I get them out of there again and how do I deliver them to the correct server (which could be either the main mail server here or the pop3 host at our provider's, which I don't have direct access to I fear)?

I suppose I could just forward them to the user's email addresses, apologizing sincerely, but for that I would need a (CLI) mail client that would read Maildir style mailboxes, as root. Which one would be suited for such a task?

I'd appreciate any help!

Oh well, I just emerged mutt and ran is as root, browsing to .maildir in the different home directories, forwarding the contained messages.

Luckily it was nothing very important.
