Is it possible to set up Postfix so that if any mail comes thru the box attached with a certain FQDN, the box will immediately pass that email onto another server for processing as neither standard nor virtual users reside on that server?

The server is already permitted as an outgoing relay for two mail servers.

By "attached with a certain FQDN" to you mean _to_ a certain FQDN, like joe@FQ.DN? If so, an mx entry in DNS is what you want.

I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you mean that I should just add an MX record for that particular FQDN at the ISP end? This can be done anyway, but I would rather one site and then to divert mail from that location.

If I'm reading your question correctly you'd want to do the following.

Set your MX to point all your domains at server.domain.com. You'll need to do this for each server as you can not do a wildcard MX record.

Next configure your MTA to accept mail for all these domains. Then build a smtproute table, format depends on MTA, to send them to the proper server.

An example of /etc/postfix/tranport would be
Code:

server1.domain.com     :smtp:mail1.domain.com
www2.domain.com       :smtp:mail2.domain.com

This is exactly correct thank you. A slight concern is that the transport protocol you make mention of is not currently in use with my configuration of Postfix.

IIRC you'll want to add the follow to your config, but I'd doublecheck with Postfix's docs just to make sure.

transport_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/transport
