I had Gentoo installed and completly working with internet and everything for about 3 weeks now, but recently i have restarted on startup I cant load my network card, although it was working before.
well, because it was not working i went on irc to look for some help, and people recommended me to modprobe, which didnt work because device was not found, when i am using the latest 2004.2 live cd and do lspci it shows me this for my DLink network card.
Code: | 0000:02:02.0 Ethernet controller: Uknown device 0002:1020 (rev 43) |
i have also used when i was installing gentoo for the first time, and it worked fine.
i also tried recompiling the Kernel ( i am using 2.4 kernel)
i have just started using linux( gentoo is my first attempt ), so i am not familiar with many many things.
can anyone see what could be my problem ? could it be the pci card itself ? if it is a hardware problem how do i make sure?
-- also i have another system wih ISA network cards, i am not sure how to install them, i'll browse the forums for a while. |

If the network card worked with the 2004.2 LiveCD before, then it is probably a hardware problem. Otherwise, you could try Knoppix or another LiveCD based distro in order to see whether the card will work there. |
