Afaik the root password is set to a random value by default.
You have to change it using passwd |

i had the same problem installing on ppc. It is all written in the instructions. In my case you had to enter some arguments:
rw init=/linuxrc cdroot
when I tried whitout cdroot I couldn't log in to root, and when I tried without rw I wasn't able to read/write. I don't know how the procedure goes in your case.
Hope it's any help |

forgive me, but I don't get it:
boot: rw init=/linuxrc cdroot <RETURN>
does not work. I simply cannot login after the boot process has completed ... |

well, sure. Problem is: new world macs use yaboot and not bootx. Therefore I cannot use these parameters |

The same problem here. I booted my G5 with new 2004.2 ppc64 iso until I reached the login screen, but dont know how to login. I took a look at the handbook, found nothing about it.
Could anyone help me, please.
