i've read the cups guide
i've read the cups guide
i've read the cups guide
ok, on my parents computer they cannot print. i've emerged and started cups and foomatic, and run the foomatic line listed on the guide.
its an epson stylus color 900 and the guide uses a 980. the foomatic driver is gimp-print (instead of gimp-print-ijs for the 980). i named the que "default".
it says "test page printed successfully" in kde's print managed set up with cups and showing the default queue (sp?). problem is no page is printed. it just sits there. no indication of anything working.
it uses the lp port. lp support (lp parport parport_pc) was compiled into the kernel. later i took it out and used it as modules and loaded the modules. neither method worked.
so how do you get printing to work in linux? there has to be an easier and functioning way! |
